Arsenal announces signing of Poland centre-back

The player, who was present at the Emirate stadium when Arsenal played Manchester United on Sunday, January 22, 2023, could make a debut for the Gunners on January 27, 2023, when they face Manchester City in the FA Cup fourth-round tie.

ARSENAL Football Club has announced their second signing of the January transfer window, which happens to be a Poland centre-back, Jakub Kiwior from Spezia for a fee of £20 million ($25m).

The 22-year-old, who made a switch to the England side from Serie A, was brought to give left centre-back, Gabriel some competition, as well as provide cover for the Brazilian who has been an important figure in the Arsenal league trophy challenge.

Speaking on the new arrival, Arteta said: “It’s great that Jakub is joining us. He’s a young versatile defender who has shown huge potential and qualities with Spezia in Serie A, and also at the international level with Poland. Jakub is a player who will give us strength and quality to our defensive unit. We welcome Jakub and his family to Arsenal and look forward to working with him.”

Kiwior who can also play as a left-back and also as a holding midfielder boasts of nine international appearances for his national team, which includes four at the recently concluded 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
