AFCON R16: Nigeria draws Tunisia

THE Round of 16 stage of the ongoing AFCON tournament is set to commence on Sunday, January 23rd, 2022, with sixteen teams making it to the stage.

The Super eagles of Nigeria are into the Round of 16 stage of the competition after finishing top of their group table with all possible 9 points.

Also qualifying for the Round of 16 stage are host Cameroon, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Guinea, Gambia, Comoros, Morocco, Senegal, Malawi, Cape Verde, Mali, Egypt, Ivory Coast, and Equatorial Guinea.

On Sunday, January 23rd, Burkina Faso will face Gabon by 5pm at the Limbe Stadium in Limbe while Nigeria takes on Tunisia by 8pm at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua. 

Monday, January 24th, 2022 will see Guinea clash with Gambia by 5pm at the Kouekong Stadium in Bafoussam. Host nation, Cameroon will welcome Comoros at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde, by 8pm.

On Tuesday, January 25th, 2022, Senegal versus Cape Verde will take place at the Kouekong Stadium in Bafoussam by 5pm. Morocco will face Malawi by 8pm on the same day at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde. 

The last day of the Round of 16, Wednesday, January 26th, will bring Cote d’Ivoire v Egypt by 5pm at the Japoma Stadium in Douala. Mali will then take on Equatorial Guinea by 8pm at the Limbe Stadium in Limbe. 

This year’s edition will crown a new champion after defending champions Algeria could not make it to the Round of 16 stage as they finished last in their group stage.
