THE Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Muhammed Sabo Nanono has announced that the Federal Government of Nigeria will establish prison service farms across the country as part of efforts to implement the Nigerian Correctional Act.

Nanono made this disclosure in Abuja on Thursday, 17th of June, 2021 at the 4th Regular Meeting of the National Council on Agriculture and Rural Development (NCARD).

According to him, the establishment of the prison farms would serve as a training ground for inmates serving time in correctional institutions.

He further explained that the farms seek to fulfil Nigeria’s aim of reforming, rehabilitating and reintegrating offenders back into the mainstream of society.

The development will also help inmates earn a living and learn a vocation while serving time.
