Residents of Abesan Estate have written a letter to the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) requesting that prepaid meters be installed in their Estate.

The letter signed by the President of Abesan Estate Residents Association (AERA), Engineer Ola Oni, claimed that IKEDC "has been unfair to the residents of Abesan Estate in addressing our pressing needs."

A copy of the letter, sighted by AlimoshoToday, read in part: "It is no longer news that 900,000 meters have been released for free distribution as reported by Business Day newspaper dated 30th October, 2020.

"Hence, we will like to know when you are going to commence installation of prepaid meters to all the 6000 flats in Abesan Estate."

According to the chairman, three years ago, residents of Abesan Estate staged a peaceful protest on the same matter " which you (IKEDC) promised to attend to our request urgently but till this moment, we are yet to see you putting your promises to action."

The chairman added that residents of the estate will embark on another protest if IKEDC does not attend to their request.
