Heavily-loaded truck rams into drainage, causes gridlock on Idimu-Egbeda road

A heavily loaded truck in the early hours of today has rammed into a drainage on the right side of the Idimu-Egbeda Road at Orelope Bus Stop at about 7:45 AM.

A heavily-loaded truck rammed into the drainage on the right side of the Idimu-Egbeda Road at Orelope Bus Stop at about 7:45 am today.

The truck almost crashed into the Amori Shopping Complex premises where cars were parked for sale.

The accident was caused by a front-tyre burst on the passenger's side of the articulated vehicle.

Confirming the accident, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), said in a statement: "There is a report of a loaded truck that ran into a drainage at Orelope, inwards Egbeda occupying about 50 per cent portion of the road and causing serious backlog towards Isheri junction.

"Following this, LASTMA has informed the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), responsive unit for immediate evacuation."

The driver of the truck, who did not disclose his name, told Aliimosho Today  in pidgin English: "The front tyre burst while I was on motion and the steering wheel became very uncontrollable."
