HRH Alhaji Ahmed Haruna Kuraja, Sarki overall of Alimosho local government in Lagos, has called on the Arewa communities across the southwestern region not to fall for the antics of "unrepentant enemies of our invaluable unity as a people and citizens of one great country, Nigeria."
Citing the wind of discord raging through the Nigerian fabric in recent times, the royal father who is the chairman, Assembly of Sarkis under the aegis of the Chieftaincy Council of Arewa Community in Alimosho, warned that a close observance of the unfolding events understandably paints a script being strategically acted upon to puncture our unity by our common enemies.
He noted: "There appears to be a vigorous drive to set us on a collision course and it has become more demanding of us to remain resolute and proactive in defence of our unity to uphold peace in our country because that is the only recipe for sustainable growth and development.
"The crisis rocking Oyo State in recent times that wears an inter-tribal toga, with the most recent in Shasha community, Akinyele LGA of the state, are sorely regrettable as they signpost a dip in our decades of awesome cordiality and brotherhood. I have no doubt in my mind that the enemies of our cherished harmony are at work to tear us apart, the reason we have to be alive to the game of the common foe."
"I am using this medium to re-echo my repeated calls on our people to guard against falling for disguised triggers of anarchy and hold firm to lawful standards as that will certainly lead to shaming the promoters of disunity and a stronger and better nation for all of us."
"In conclusion, I am calling on the constituted authorities to act quicker in watering down the tempo of discord towards putting a permanent end to the robbers of our brotherhood, peace, progress and development," he added.
