OLAYEMI WOOD BRIDGE

RESIDENTS of Ayobo-Ipaja and its environs have called on the Governor of Lagos State to replace the Olayemi Link Bridge before it causes irreparable damage to the communities.

The bridge, which is the shortest route to Igando, Isheri, and Ikotun, is a wooden bridge and has been abandoned for years. It is a source of concern to commuters and pedestrians due to the high level of risk it poses to people that ply those routes.

Some of the residents claim to be frightened when passing through the bridge because of the ‘justified’ fear that the woods would break.
Tricyclists, drivers, and bike riders claim that, despite the huge toll amount they pay daily to access the bridge, the development and maintenance of the bridge have been abandoned.

However, passengers who ply the route daily though affirmed that the state of the bridge is disheartening, they prefer to use the bridge since it is faster to Igando, Isheri, and Ikotun.

All stakeholders connected to the bridge hereby appeal to the Lagos State Government to pick up the management of the bridge and replace it, preferably with a concrete one.
