HUNDREDS of creative artists and art lovers in the Alimosho LGA and beyond on Saturday, September 17, 2022, convened at the Lagos Theatre, Igando for the fourth edition of D'Gathering of Creatives.

Speaking on the significance of the event, the Convener, Oluwaseun Adeojo (Desoji Arts) said D'Gathering started off in 2016 as an online contest, to celebrate his birthday anniversary, but evolved in 2019 to become a physical event where passionate creatives convene to showcase their art.

“D'Gathering came to be by reason of an online contest that started off in 2016. The idea of the contest was to use arts as a medium to reach out to people. So they were meant to upload a picture with a caption theme for the year, and I would draw them. The winner was selected by engagement. At the end of the contest, we invite winners to a location and present their artwork to them.

“So in 2019 when D'Gathering was given birth to, we decided that instead of having just winners, we brought everybody together, and that was how we had D'Gathering of Creatives' first edition. Ever since then, it became an annual thing,” he said.

Desoji further said that the desire of the programme was to discover, celebrate and connect creative artists across the globe. And the contest was a means to bring them under one umbrella.

In this year’s edition tagged, 'Beyond the Norm', five contestants presented their various artworks, with the panel of judges and the audience deciding the winner.

Vanessa Livinus, emerged as the winner and was awarded #50,000 for emerging the winner.
