A 49-year-old man, Oshe Olajide, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to kill a staff of the Twins Faja Supermarket by using a ‘spiritual’ coconut to perform some rituals at the company’s premises.

According to media reports, the incident happened at the branch of the company located in the Abaranje area of Ikotun in the Igando-Ikotun LCDA of Alimosho LGA.

It was gathered that the suspect, Olajide, had a disagreement with some staff of the company over an undisclosed matter. He then brought a coconut, broke it at the premises, and was performing some rituals before he was caught.

The act instilled fear in the staff, who were on duty, and they contacted the management. The matter was then reported to the Police at the Ikotun Division for investigation.

Thus, the Police arrested and detained Olajide at the station for interrogation for his alleged conduct of instilling fear in the staff of the supermarket.

After thorough interrogation, the police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for conduct likely to cause a breach of the public peace, to which he pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.

The prosecutor, SP Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the court to give a date for the hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs K.A. Ariyo, granted him bail and ordered his remand in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
