Igando -Ikotun council boss addresses the press as part of his 100 days in office activities

THE Executive Chairman of the Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Comrade Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya has highlighted the achievement of his administration in the past 100 days during a press conference at the council’s secretariat on Monday, November 29, 2021.

During the press conference, the Council Mayor reiterated that the working agenda of his administration is centred on education, health, youth and women empowerment, security, infrastructural development, and agriculture.

While commenting on the achievement made in the educational sector, Comrade Akinsanya mentioned the total renovation of the Olukotun Nursery and Primary School, which will be commissioned on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. He also informed the press that his administration has acquired two plots of land for a proposed primary school in the Ayanwale area in the Isheri-Oshun community.

Comrade Akinsanya also averred that a committee has been set up to purchase GCE and JAMB forms for eligible students in the LCDA. He also mentioned the empowerment of 120 children with ICT skills under the Akinsanya Kids Coding Program.

Similarly, the chairman highlighted the improvements made in the health sector of the Igando- Ikotun LCDA; he described the reconstruction of the Ikotun Primary Health Centre, which was destroyed by hoodlums during October 2020 #ENDSARS campaign and which will be commissioned on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.

He also affirmed that the construction of a staff clinic in the council’s secretariat as promised during the election campaign is ongoing and will be completed in a few weeks.

He, similarly, affirmed that arrangements have been made to fully equip the Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu PHC, Abaranje Okerube with drugs and equipment to ensure the effective delivery of healthcare service to the residents of the Abaranje community.

On the part of youth and women empowerment in the LCDA, the council boss averred that, within his administration’s 100 days in office, the women and youth of the LCDA have been empowered with capital to start up their businesses and also the provision of grants to support existing businesses.

He also mentioned the establishment of the recently concluded Akinsanya Football Competition where the winners and the runners-up of the competition were awarded cash prizes. He noted that the establishment of the competition is “to engage our youth, promote love and unity among them.”

Similarly, he reiterated that the welfare of the staff and traditional rulers of the Igando-Ikotun community has been greatly improved within his 100 days in office.

Security-wise, the council boss noted that his administration has been able to ensure the safety of lives and property in the LCDA by liaising with stakeholders and security agents in the community.

He also mentioned the erection of a temporary police post in the council’s secretariat to accommodate the Ikotun Police Officers after the destruction of the former police post by hoodlums during the October 2020 #ENDSARS campaign.

On infrastructural development, Comrade Akinsanya mentioned the sand filling and grading of the Egan and Old Akesan roads that were formerly deplorable, pointing out that his administration has reached an agreement with building contractors that will work on Ali Momodu Street, Ijegun; Bontex Street, Isheri-Oshun; and Adenaike Ogunnaike Street, Igando.

He ended the conference by assuring the press and all stakeholders present that his administration will complete all ongoing projects in Y2022 and also improve the standard of living of his constituents.
