Council officials commence drainage clearing in Igando

As the rains resumed recently and hamattarn season draws closer, communities have begun to clean up and put their surroundings in order.

Ogunlana Street in Egbeda has been undergoing some major clean-up tasks. Car Wash Road in Ikotun down to Davisa Junction have also begun to enjoy similar gestures.

The gutters which had been filled up with the silt and debris that could have naturally flowed into the canal have been blocked, hence causing the dreadful flood whenever it rained.

Some officials of the Igando-Ikotun local council were led by the Council boss to clear the gutters.

Recall that two weeks ago, two roads: Prince Adeyemi Road and Oduduwa Street have been graded as palliative measures.

Special Assistant to the Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area, Eniola Badmus Oseni  confirmed the maintenance work.

According to Oseni the Council Chairman, Hon. Morenike Adesina Williams is leading the charge in clearing the drainage, refuse heaps and dumpsites in her domain.

Adeshina Williams said: "We want to lead by example, if officials of the council can engage in sanitation, we want other residents to emulate us and keep their environment clean."
