A Lagos-based National Youth Service Corper, Umoh Veronica, has organized a free medical eye screening exercise for indigents in the Igando-Ikotun LCDA of Alimosho LGA.

The Sun reports that the two-day exercise, in collaboration with Legal Anchorage and Hephzibah Eye Care, would provide its beneficiaries with comprehensive eye health screening that can help to identify any problems and provide treatment at an early stage.

With the theme “Early Detection: For Preventable Blindness and Visual Impairment,” the exercise aims to provide other benefits, including free ocular/general health talk, distribution of free drugs, eye drops and reading glasses where necessary, aswell as free blood pressure checks.

According to Umoh, the free medical service would serve as a personal community development project and a way of giving back to society.

“The free eye medical exercise was organized as part of my zeal to give back to the community, particularly the less privileged ones in the society who have no one to care for them and to educate the public on the importance of good eye care,” she explained.
