APC Electorate stage protest in rejection of Oseni

IN order to prove to the hierarchy of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State that Hon. Oseni Ahmed Olajide, one of the chairmanship aspirants in the just concluded local council primary election, was never elected and does not exist as the flag bearer of the party in Igando-Ikotun LCDA for the coming election, APC groups comprising of men, women and youth staged a protest at the APC Lagos Secretariat in Acme, Ikeja, recently.

The protest started with the protesters gathering at the Igando-Ikotun LGA Secretariat where they sang solidarity songs and were addressed by party leaders and elders before their en masse exodus to Acme.

At the Lagos Secretariat, the surging masses were not perturbed and deterred by the heavy presence of policemen from the state command who later found that the determined APC members and community people shared an unflinching determination to press their demand that Hon. Ahmed Olajide Oseni be called to order in his bid to dissuade and confuse the people through his claims that he won the primary election in Igando-Ikotun.

Comrade Oseni Eniola Badmus, who spoke amid solidarity chants, said that the protest movement became necessary to put paid to the lingering rumour that Hon. Ahmed Oseni is the APC flag bearer in Igando-Ikotun.
According to Badmus, the ill-fated delusion was plotted and propagated by some disgruntled, unpopular people who are mere superficial spectators in the politics and leadership agenda of Igando-Ikotun.

Badmus said "We are unanimously debunking the rumour making the rounds about Hon. Oseni in the LCDA; it is unfounded and lacks any form of merit just as the figure in the humorous farce lacks credit.

"Hon. Oseni is not known to the electorate and avalanche of leaders in Igando-Ikotun and no covert abracadabra will make his mischief meaningful", he asserted.

About the July 24 election, he said that Comrade Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya, one time 8 years state president of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Lagos state chapter, who was massively voted by the masses across the entire wards of the council; and was announced, declared and published by LASIEC, remains the legitimate, authorised and cherished flag bearer and chairmanship candidate of Igando-Ikotun LCDA.

Further, Eniola Badmus stated that the State Party Secretary had declared before the peaceful Igando-Ikotun protesters, that Comrade Akinsanya's form as the winner was signed by the State Chairman and him.

He advised the entire people of Igando-Ikotun LCDA to remain peaceful and law-abiding in the face of provocation by infamous and unpopular political mischief makers, and to also assure that massive socio-economic and infrastructural developments await them as soon as Comrade Akinsanya takes the saddle as the substantive chairman.

On behalf of the APC Igando-Ikotun LCDA, members and the people, he then submitted a protest letter to the State Secretariat before the group left Acme.
