Peter Okoye admonishes Nigerians to shun tribalism

"Igbos do not hate Yorubas, neither do Yorubas hate Igbos. Politicians are using tribe as an excuse to cover their evil. They don’t like you, whether Igbo or Yoruba. They only care about their pockets. Be wiser.” - Mr P.

AS conversations on the issue of tribalism in Nigeria gathers momentum, legendary singer, Peter Okoye popularly known as Mr P has spoken against the act in the country, citing himself as an example.

The artiste, who happens to be a member of the duo group, Psquare, directed his message to the Yorubas and Igbos, claiming that they should be no hard feelings between them.

Peter, who has been very active before and during the election period, told fans and followers to stop being tribalistic, as politicians will use this as an avenue to cover up their questionable behaviour.

He wrote “I am an Igbo man married to a Yoruba woman! Igbos do not hate Yorubas, neither do Yorubas hate Igbos. Politicians are using tribe as an excuse to cover their evil. They don’t like you, whether Igbo or Yoruba. They only care about their pockets. Be wiser.”

Peter Okoye got married to Omolola in 2013, and together they have two children.
