FAMOUS Nigerian veteran singer and political activist, Charles Oputa well known by his stage name, Charly Boy has expressed concerns over President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's intention to remove fuel subsidy.

The President, who was sworn in yesterday, May 29, 2023, gave a wake-up call to Nigerians, as he made clear his intention to remove fuel subsidy.

The announcement has caused panic across the country, leading to a hike in petrol prices as well as scarcity.

Speaking on the matter via Twitter, Charly Boy noted that Tinubu’s intention on the subsidy removal has caused a country wide incident, leading to the increase in the price of fuel in the country as some stations now sell at N500 per litre.

He wrote, “Tinubu don break record within 24 hours after swearing-in. Fuel scarcity and fuel price have increased after announcing fuel subsidy removal. Day 1 hitting the ground running.

“The question is, are the BATIS going to buy this fuel in different prices from what We Buy??? We go soon learn.”

This development caused mixed reactions among citizens, as some applauded the President for the bold step while others are against it, and others think it is a good development but should not be implemented immediately.
