Residents of Ogunlana Street, Adenrele Street and Goddy Love experienced a gory incident over the weekend due to a dastardly act perpetrated by some unidentified groups, which led to the destruction of properties and allegedly claimed the lives of two young people.

It was reported that these unidentified groups, presumed to be either cultists or hoodlums by the residents, took to the streets and started intimidating people with all kinds of dangerous weapons, snatching people's belongings, vandalising properties and even hurting some residents.

Speaking with AlimoshoToday about the ugly incident, a shop-owner on Ogunlana Street recalled: "Cultists from Egbeda and Shasha were fighting. They were destroying people's properties. They killed two people and I saw it. Policemen conveyed the dead people in a van and passed through my area. I learnt some of the people arrested were brought back to identify other members of their gang. I don't know if they eventually succeeded, but I learnt the suspects were taken back for interrogation by the police."

A night guard in charge of a property in the area told AlimoshoToday : "It seems they didn't enter streets that their group members are not residing (pointing at the end of Ogunlana Street). They didn't go there because their people are not there. When the police came after they have perpetrated a level of damage, they entered different Street gates to hide."

An eyewitness also told AlimoshoToday: "On Thursday night, I was almost close to one of the scenes. A couple was running towards me at the junction of Ogunlana and I was wondering why they were running. On getting to Okla hotel, inwards Adenrele, I just heard behind me, 'run, run, run'. Right behind me were 30 to 40 young boys trying to snatch things from people and they were also chasing some people.

"The next day, the next thing we heard was that they were ransacking the entire Adenrele Street and every compound gate on the street was being hurriedly closed. Right in front of another hotel, they started stabbing a young boy until he died right there at Adenrele junction, towards Destiny Avenue.

"We thought the gangsters were from Adenrele and Shasha, making it look like Egbeda and Shasha boys. Later, after some days, I gathered that security men at the new De City's Treasure Hotel, commonly referred to as Ehi Hotel on Goddy Love, was trying to chase away some hoodlums from that environment. The boys were asking for money, but the hotel owner refused to give them. That was the reason they started acting that way and it led to a fight between two communities- Shasha and Egbeda.

"On Saturday, we were told that some police officials shot one of those boys when they were causing trouble and took them away. They have been vandalising cars, streets and  shops on Ogunlana, so they have really become a threat to the community."
