Man sentenced to community service for stealing 3 bottles of beer in Gemade Estate

When the 28-year-old Ibrahim was interrogated by the Magistrate, he narrated that he did it out of frustration.

A 28-year-old man, Ibrahim Kuye, has been sentenced to four hours of community service before the Ogba Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Ikeja area of Lagos State for allegedly trespassing into a compound and stealing three bottles of Tiger beer valued at N1,500 in Egbeda, in the Egbeda-Akowonjo LCDA of Alimosho LGA.

Kuye, who was arraigned on March 23, 2023, before Magistrate O.A Ogunjobi, is facing a two-count charge bordering on stealing preferred against him by the police.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Emeka Ehinze, the offence committed is punishable under Section 306(2) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The charge reads, “That you, Ibrahim Kuye, on March 18, 2023, around 3 pm at Gemade Estate, Egbeda, Alimosho, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did break into No. 9 Fidelix Crescent, Gemade Estate, Egbeda, Alimosho, Lagos State, by climbing the gate of the compound property of one Uche Uba, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 306 and punishable under Section 306(2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
