Concerned members of Williams Estate Residents Association in Egbeda-Akowonjo, Alimosho Local Government Area have appealed to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to save them from the activities of land grabbers within the community.

According to the Association’s chairman, Mr Alfred Oshinoki, the issue is that these set of miscreants have encroached on an open space in the Estate reserved for the recreation centre.

In a statement issued at the weekend, Oshinoki said: “There is an approved layout plan for the open space reserved for a recreation centre for the community's use, but it is rather unfortunate that these miscreants have encroached on the said land without government approval to commence an illegal structure on the land.”

Worried over the encroachment, the association, Oshinoki recalled, petitioned the Ministry of Physical Planning on this development in June 2019 and followed up with another, with the Commissioner for Physical Planning in Lagos State Dr Idris Salako quoted as saying that open spaces were important for the sustainability of the people, that at no time should the entire landscape be utilised for building alone.
