An aggrieved husband and Chairman of a motorcycle rider union, Olaoluwa-Daniel Yaya, is demanding for justice after his wife allegedly lost her pregnancy due to gunshots fired by their landlord, identified only as Mr Afuye.

A media report revealed that men of the Lagos State Police Command recovered three guns from Afuye after he allegedly shot at Yaya over rent for his apartment on Mosalasi Street, in the Alimosho Local Government Area of the state.

After pleading for some time to pay the money, Yaya said he was at work when he received a call from his wife that Afuye was dragging with her because of the outstanding rent.

When he got home and confronted the landlord over the incident, the latter reportedly brought out a gun and shot at him.

“It took the grace of God that none of the bullets hit me,” he added.

He stated that his pregnant wife, who was hypertensive, collapsed after she heard the shots.

“She lost the pregnancy due to the shock she suffered from the gunshots. She was three months’ pregnant when the incident happened and we had been looking for a child for about 10 years. She has not given birth before. It is painful,” he added.

Yaya, who said the police had been acting on a rumour that he wanted the case withdrawn, lamented that Afuye’s action had traumatised his family.

He said: “The police who came from the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, told me to rewrite my statement.
