Two sales reps. in court over alleged N2.8m theft

TWO sales representatives, Joseph Agu and Oluwaseyi Ogunmola, who allegedly stole N2.8 million from their employer at the Health Creed Pharmacy on 33, Idimu Road, have appeared at an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

Agu, 35 and Ogunmola, 24, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

According to the Prosecutor, Inspector Kennedy Aibpokhan, the defendants committed the offences on January 11.

He defendants stole the N2.8 million realised from sales of pharmaceutical products belonging to their employer, Mr Ayangu Igwebuike.

He said that the defendants were arrested when they could not give account of the missing money.

Aibpokhan said the offences contravened Sections 287 (7) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the crimes.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr E. O. Ogunkanmi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N1 million each with two sureties each in like sum.

He said that the sureties must be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The case was subsequently adjourned to March 15 for mention.
