WEEKS after the Lagos State Government permitted clubs and bars to reopen, the Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Alimosho local council is still experiencing a poor turnout of customers, AlimoshoToday has learnt.

Restaurants and bars have been locked down since March in a bid to control the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

A visit by AlimoshoToday to the Minguls Hotel and Bar at Minguls Bus Stop, Idimu Road revealed that only a few patrons were there and the bar has been experiencing very poor turnout.

The bar attendant, Mr Emmanuel Lasisi, said: "Some parts of the bar are now being used temporarily as a car park since there are no people to occupy the space."

Another bar operator working at Masbed Hotel in Idimu, who did not divulge his name, revealed that most customers are working-class people and many of them have been out of job. So, they cannot afford to buy drinks, nkwobi or catfish.

Owner of the hotel, Mrs Nwabueze said: "Some customers buy on credit and come to pay the following day.

"Recently, we ensure that we show live football matches to attract our customers, but it's still not paying off."
