Balogun visits Alimosho monarchs, registers 2023 Reps ambition

Prince Idris Balogun, aka Oluomo Kafata, and some members of the New Alimosho Movement on Friday visited His Royal Highness, Oba Gbadabiu Ishola Asiwaju (Olukotun of Ikotun) and Oba Babatunde Akanbi Lawal Ogunronbi, Akinlowo 1, Onishasha of Shasha

Prince Idris Balogun, aka Oluomo Kafata, and some members of the New Alimosho Movement on Friday visited His Royal Highness, Oba Gbadabiu Ishola Asiwaju (Olukotun of Ikotun) and Oba Babatunde Akanbi Lawal Ogunronbi, Akinlowo 1 (Onishasha of Shasha Kingdom) to inform the paramount rulers of his political aspiration to represent Alimosho Federal Constituency in 2023.

Special Assistant on Media to Prince Balogun, Edafe Oghenebrume, made this known in a statement.

According to Edafe, Prince Balogun also seeks their support in the struggle to liberate Alimosho from alleged political bondage and enslavement from some few politicians.

He said the Olukotun of Ikotun commended Prince Idris, other conveners and members of the New Alimosho Movement for embarking on such struggle and promised to reach out to other Obas and Baales for their traditional support in ensuring that the Aworis take the front seat in political affairs of their ancestral land.

Gbadabiu Ishola, Asiwaju of Ikotun, said: "Gone are the days whereby some few people who do not have roots in Alimosho would sit down somewhere to decide for us and our children, representing us at Federal, State and Local Government levels.

"I am not saying we won't accommodate other tribes or indigenes from other states to hold political positions or represent us, but our sons and daughters should be allowed to be part of political settings.

"And since one of them, Prince Idris Balogun has shown interest, we shall support him with all we have as Obas.

"Interestingly, his father is also one of us in Alimosho and we know he won't want to let his father and the traditional institution down.

"And if any political leader in Alimosho tries to threaten him on his aspiration, we will be all out for such set of ingrates."

On his part, Onishasha of Shasha advised Balogun and other youths to be patient, as the political leaders at the state level have contacted most of the traditional rulers in Alimosho on the present political struggle being wielded by the New Alimosho Movement.

"In those days, they will tell us that our children are not educated or do not have the intellectual capacity to hold political positions, but now we have graduates and wealthy children who are more capable.
"l have three graduates with Bsc. and one Master's Degree holder. And there is hardly any family in Aworiland that does not have one or two graduates.

"For instance, the present Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University is one of our sons in Aworiland and, for the past five years, you can see that there has been no strike or cult crisis in that institution," he revealed.
