THERE is a whole lot you can do for yourself on weekend mornings or after a long day at work when you need something to munch on before retiring to bed. Yes, pancakes are one of those things. We have come up with seven Do-it-Yourself steps to make a sumptuous pancake for you and even your guests.

The process of making pancakes are very easy and delightful. People say there is unusual happiness that comes with making pancakes and only happy people find making pancakes interesting.

What do you need to make Pancakes?
Flour, egg, sugar, milk, salt, vegetable oil, two mixing bowls, a frying pan, spatula

Steps to make Pancakes:

Dry mix

Mix all the dry ingredients together. That is your flour, sugar and salt in a bowl.

The liquid mix

Mix vegetable oil, milk, and egg in a separate bowl. Ensure you whisk all properly until the egg is broken up. (This prevents overmixing in the next step)

Dry and liquid mix

Mix properly, the dry ingredients and the liquid mix (in step 2) together until you stop seeing flour. However, it is advisable to not overmix the batter.

Pre-heat the frying pan

Place your pan on  a stove/burner and allow it heat for 5 minutes

Oil in Pan

Add vegetable oil

Slightly wipe the surface of the pan with a little drop of vegetable oil to stop the pancakes from sticking to the pan.

Frying your batter/pancakes

Gently measure one full deep spoon (ladle) of batter into the pan and use a spoon to spread the batter into a circle. (You may add pancake fillings like sliced banana or strawberries)

Flip the pancake not the pan

When bubbles begin to pop at the centre, turn the pancakes to the other side. Then gently take the pancake out using a spatula or a flat spoon.

Extra Tip: When your pancake is ready and out of the pan, you may choose to add honey, pancake syrup, jam and hot dog. Pour out a chilled juice or enjoy your pancake with a cup of chocolate drink.
