The facility was unveiled by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, who was represented by the Assistant Inspector General in charge of Zone II, Johnson Kokumo, he said; “I want to say thank you for thinking to domicile this blood bank in the police premises. I want to say we are going to be the first beneficiary and we will ensure that the immediate community benefits from this. I want to request that you continue to assist us whenever you see us lacking.

“It is our wish to have this facility replicated across the federation but then we are financially handicapped and that is why we are very grateful to Rotary International and the Rotary Club of Ikoyi for what they have done. It is really wonderful and that was why I even requested, like Oliver Twist, we want them to still come to our aid, to do more for us.”

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi expressed joy that the hospital would not only be able to serve its patients but also the immediate community when the need for blood arises.
