SPOKESPERSON of the Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin has confirmed the death of a yet-to-be-identified man following a clash between police officers and Okada riders in the Oko-Oba area of Lagos State.

Hundeyin, while confirming the death, claimed that the riders violently attacked the police officers on the Abule-Egba bridge after an accident involving a car and a motorcycle.

“We’re fully aware of the disturbances in the Oko-Oba area of Lagos State. Our officers have been deployed. The situation has been brought under control. Further details will be provided later.

“After a minor accident involving a car and a motorcycle occurred on the Abule-Egba Bridge at about 4 pm Tuesday, motorcycle riders in their numbers started fomenting trouble. Police arrived on the scene to quell the unrest. The riders violently attacked the Police. This resulted in the death of one of the riders,” he narrated.

He, however, noted that peace had been restored to the area and that officers were in the area to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

“Normalcy has been restored to the area. The DPO, Oko-Oba and his men are on ground to forestall any breakdown of law and order,” Hundeyin said.
