NIGERIA 2023: PDP adjusts pre-election schedule, fixes May 25 for governorship primaries

In a letter addressed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the PDP said the dates were adjusted owing to unforeseen circumstances.

THE National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced a shift in the date for the conduct of its governorship primaries across the country.

According to reports, the development is the second time the PDP will be shifting its pre-election primaries.

The gubernatorial primaries were initially scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 21, 2022, but were shifted to Monday, May 23, 2022. 

In the newly updated timetable, the PDP said the governorship primaries will now take place on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

The State House of Assembly primaries will now take place on Saturday, May 21, 2022, while the House of Representative and Senatorial district primaries are now scheduled for Sunday, May 22, 2022, and Monday, 23, 2022, respectively.

Meanwhile, the special convention where delegates from across the country are expected to elect a candidate to represent the PDP in the 2023 presidential election will take place on Saturday, May 28, 2022.
