THE Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected some results of the state local government elections conducted, on Saturday, July 24, 2021, in the 57 local government areas and local council development areas. They have thus threatened to go to the election tribunal to contest the results of some areas where there were reported instances of electoral malpractices.

The state publicity secretary of PDP, Hon. Gani Taofik, claimed that the report they got from some of their candidates and their agents at various polling units across the state showed that there were several instances of electoral malpractice and biases.

Hon. Taofik said: “Lots of support were given to the All Progressives Congress (APC) voters. Some of the APC members voted with their drivers’ license, National Identification Number (NIN), some of them got multiple ballot papers to use in voting. What we have done in those areas where we have proven allegations was to encourage our members who experienced these infractions to prepare to go to the election tribunal to challenge the results in those areas.”

He also claimed that the ruling party (APC) was able to carry out these electoral biases due to the low turnout of voters and voter apathy. He urged all party faithful to remain optimistic as they already have plans to contest the results.
