Lagos lawmakers visit Lagos State Farm Production Centre, Pato Badagry.

They commend the General Manager and his team for the revitalization of the centre and implored the contractors to finish the projects within the stipulated time.

THE Lagos State House of Assembly, through its Committee on Agriculture,  led by the Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture, Hon. Kehinde Joseph alongside Mr. Hakeem Adeniji, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, paid a working visit to the Lagos State Farm Production Centre in Pato area of Badagry on Thursday, October 21, 2021.

During the visit, Hon. Joseph asked the General Manager of the centre, Mr. Omirin to update the Committee with insights of the job carried out so far in the centre and what they have been able to achieve.

In response, Mr Omirin said; "Within the time the centre has been in existence, we've been able to train our youth about aquaculture, poultry, and snail farming in which the best among them were rewarded for their excellent performance.

"Encroachment is one major challenge we are facing. Others include transportation and electricity. We spend #200,000 weekly on the purchase of diesel for powering the centre because we need water for the day-to-day activities."

The Committee appreciated Mr Omirin and his team for their immense contributions to the improvement of agriculture in Lagos State. They also urged them to continue to put in their best and make sure that youth were been trained and rewarded. 

The Committee toured the centre to inspect both existing and new projects. They harp on the contractors to make sure the projects reach the completion stage and be delivered soonest.shit1

While addressing news reporters, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Kehinde Joseph said; "we are here to see how far the operations and constructions of the budgeted projects going on here. We've been able to meet the contractors in respect of the projects given to them, unfortunately, most of the projects hasn't been completed not to talk of being delivered.

"Most of the contractors gave excuses and they've been invited to the State Assembly to meet the Committee, so as to see the memorandum of understanding that they signed with the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture."

Other members of the Committee are Hon. Affini, Hon.Tajudeen Suraju, among others.
