Lagos announces end of COVID-19 fourth wave

THE Lagos Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, has disclosed a consistent decrease in COVID-19 positivity rate which indicates the end of the fourth wave in Lagos as of Friday, January 21st, 2022.

Professor Abayomi made this known through his Twitter handle @ProfAkinolaAbayomi on Saturday, January 22nd, 2022. 

The fourth wave of the COVID-19 infections in Lagos was officially announced on December 7th, 2021 as daily infection figures skyrocketed suddenly.

Professor Akin Abayomi revealed a reduction in positivity rates of COVID-19 infection from 29.3% recorded on December 21st, 2021 to 1.9% as of January 20th, 2022.

The health commissioner noted that 1,023,203 sample tests had been conducted since the inception of the pandemic in Lagos. He has also advised residents to get vaccinated and adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols to reduce the spread of the infection.
