This directive was announced by the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire at the Covid-19 media briefing in Abuja on Monday, July 26, 2021.

Dr Ehanire stated that, in preparation for the anticipated surge in cases, the Federal Ministry of Health has taken steps to urgently improve and enhance local oxygen capacity. He claimed the government has invested strategically in ensuring oxygen availability to avert the incidence of oxygen insufficiency for COVID-19 patients in the country.

The Minister affirmed that, henceforth, incoming passengers from countries where the virus is severe will be isolated and tested before being allowed into the country. He also claimed that the Federal Government has distributed rapid testing kits to all official entry points leading to the country in a bid to monitor and prevent the importation of the Covid-19 Delta variant into Nigeria.

He condemned the fact that citizens have refused to totally adhere to all Covid-19 health guidelines despite the evidence of the emergence of a third wave of the global pandemic.
