COVID-19: Lagos claims over half of Nigeria's 1,051 cases on Thursday

There were 599 COVID-19 cases in a single day, the new Omicron variant is reported to play a role in the fourth wave.

THE Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says Lagos led the COVID-19 chart with 599 new cases out of the 1,051 new infections recorded in Nigeria on Thursday, December 16, 2021, and with no death recorded. 

The centre said the Federal Capital Territory recorded 238 cases while Rivers recorded 79 cases. 

Oyo recorded 51, Ondo 32, Plateau 20, Akwa Ibom 11, Ogun 7, Bayelsa 5, Kano 5, and Kwara 4 cases. 

The NCDC says 3,686,403 people have been tested for the virus in Nigeria, and 211,345 have been discharged so far.
