COMMISSIONER for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, said that residents and event centre owners should obtain clearance from the Lagos State Safety Commission to hold events during the Christmas season.

Mrs. Akinbile-Yusuf made this known during a media chat at the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.

The commissioner explained that residents are to get clearance from the Lagos State Safety Commission and the Lagos State Ministry of Health for their planned events.

The commission and the ministry of health would provide guidelines for event centre owners on safety measures:

”I advise anybody willing to hold any form of event to take permission and clearance from the state ministry of health and the safety commission.

”This is a strategy the state has put in place to curtail the spread of COVID-19 pandemic during the Yuletide which is very reasonable,” she said.

The planned Lagos fiesta which was initially slated to begin on the 1st of December, 2021, was also cancelled in a bid to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in a potential fourth wave during the festive season.
