LAWMA charges as low as ₦200, stop dumping refuse by roadside - PSP Admin charges council residents

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has called on residents of Egbe-Idimu and Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Areas ( LCDAs) to desist from dumping refuse on Lagos State Roads, as the agency's services are affordable and effective.

The Admin Officer of LAWMA for Lagos West, Mr Mustapha Kazeem, made this call recently.

Oladimeji Jelili, LAWMA Captain for Egbe-Idimu LCDA, also confirmed to AlimoshoToday on Thursday how much the waste management agency charges for its services.

Sanitarian Babawunmi M.O., Assistant Director of Lagos State Environmental Health Services, observed that some residents and business operators are used to dumping refuse by the roadside in order to boycott payments, and consequently littering the roads and defacing the streets of Lagos.

The call and observations were made at the recent Community Development Committee (CDC) meeting held at the Multipurpose Hall of Egbe-Idimu LCDA.

Jelili, LAWMA Captain for Egbe-Idimu LCDA gave the list of charges to residents on waste disposal.

According to him,  a room apartment is charged ₦200 monthly, a flat is ₦500, a ship is ₦200.00, a big shop pays ₦300, a school or company is charged ₦2,500 while a small school or company pays ₦1,500.

Residents are encouraged to cooperate with LAWMA officials, as the task of keeping Lagos State clean is everyone's business.

Oladimeji also explained that it is only on occasions when their trucks break down or a customer "refuses bluntly to pay," will they have problems in discharging their duties.
