The Director-General of the Nigeria's Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC) Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, has condemned indiscriminate large gatherings without strict adherence to the guidelines spelt out in controlling the virus. Political gatherings and some commercial bank operators have been lagging lately in observing safety measures.

Ihekweazu said: "The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our lives in many ways. To control this outbreak, we must adhere to measures such as wearing a face mask, physical distancing etc."

"With 38, 767 recoveries which have been discharged from 51, 905 confirmed cases, 997 deaths and 12, 141 active cases nationwide, precautions must still be taken in order to avoid a second lockdown reimposed by South Africa," Dr Ihekweazu stressed.
