The proposed bill of the Lagos State Assembly to move Alimosho Federal Constituency into Badagry Division has been opposed by some All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwarts on Tuesday.

They opposed the move at a stakeholders meeting organised by the APC leaders in the Badagry Division, at the Amuwo Odofin Local Government in Lagos.

The stakeholders, in a communique after the meeting, said that any attempt to tamper with the structure on ground would be resisted by the division.

In the communique, signed by APC leader in Badagry Division, Mr Rabiu Oluwa, the stakeholders rejected the proposed re-delineation of long-existing and historical structures of the divisions in Lagos State.

“The division rejects the proposed re-delineation of the long-existing and the historical structure of the divisions in Lagos State.

“Badagry Division is strongly opposed to the proposed merging of the present Badagry Division with Alimosho Federal Constituency which is presently in Ikeja Division.

“The division directs all members of the State House of Assembly representing Badagry to convey our decision to the Speaker, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa and to speak in this direction whenever the need arises,” the communique said.

The APC stalwarts at the meeting include former Deputy Governors of the State, Mrs Sarah Sosan and Dr Oluranti Adebule, who are from the Badagry Division.

Local government chairmen, traditional leaders, APC party elders and the Lagos State House of Assembly (LSHA) representatives from the division were also in attendance.
