Following a decline in the reported cases of COVID-19 in the State, Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the full resumption of operations of both food and non-food markets, authorising them to open daily.

Recall that the government's Covid-19 directive on opening days stated that food markets are to open every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday while other markets are to open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Earlier, AlimoshoToday had assessed the level of compliance with the government's directives regarding opening days in Alimosho and found out that some shop owners were circumventing it.

In a statement announcing the full resumption, the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Dr Wale Ahmed, said Mr Governor took the decision to further enhance trade and commerce as well as mitigate the hardship of recent times and ensure that Lagosians can recover fast.

Dr Ahmed pointed out that the Governor also advised on the continued observance of all safety protocols. He noted that traders and their customers must adhere strictly to the COVID-19 protocols for their safety and that of the citizenry at large.
