Women's Rights And Health Project (WRAPH Nigeria), a non-governmental organisation, recently paid a visit to the Baale of Alimosho, High Chief Akeeb Adebowale to raise awareness on Sexual and Gender Based Violence reporting channels.

WHARP is an NGO that works for the promotion of reproductive health, rights and general development of women, young people and communities.

When asked how the community handles SGBV cases at the  Baale of Alimosho's palace, the traditional ruler gave the story of an ongoing case involving a man who made advances at a lady and, upon rejection, burnt the lady's properties.

He said he got the man arrested and after a while the man was released by the police. He explained that the community took up the case again and till date the man is still in police custody and the case is in court.

He mentioned that he tries to ensure that such cases are attended to and working with WRAHP will make it easier.

He expressed gratitude to the team for the visit and awareness, promising to work with the WRAPH officials more closely.

The project is supported by ActionAid Nigeria and funded by Global Affairs Canada under the Women's Voice and Leadership Project.
