Schools in Alimosho Local Government area of Lagos State have resumed for the second term of the 2020/2021 academic session.

Although there are fears over the spread of the coronavirus disease due to non-adherence to protocols prescribed by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), AlimoshoToday's visit to some of the schools indicated that they are prepared for resumption and protocols are in place to prevent the spread of the virus.

At Community Primary School, Obadore, students were seen wearing their face masks as only the use of face masks can facilitate entrance into the school.

Students were also seen with their face masks on a visit to the Millenium Secondary School at Karimu Laka, while basins were provided for them to wash their hands before going into their classrooms.

At De Vasco School in Egbeda, the students were seen in their classes, evenly spaced with their face masks. A basin for the students to wash their hands was also sighted at the entrance of the school.

Earlier, the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, noted that the resumption is in line with the Federal Government’s resolution after reaching a consensus with relevant stakeholders.

Adefisayo urged all students and members of staff to stay safe and adhere strictly to COVID-19 guidelines, adding that proprietors must provide soap, wash hand basins, alcohol-based hand sanitisers, thermometers and other essential items in public and private schools across the State.
