THE Executive Council of Alimosho Local Government Area has locked some offices at the Bola Tinubu Primary Health Centre, Akowonjo, due to the report of gross misconduct by the centre’s Medical Officer of Health (MOH), Dr Kayode Odufuwa.
Reports reaching Alimoshotoday through the Media Aide to the Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Yusuf, states that the allegations levelled against the MOH include; Opening of a parallel account aside from the one opened by the council area for health purposes; the Diversion of government funds to this parallel account, and the Flouting of the Executive Council's decision after being called to order.
The Executives Council, after confirming the genuineness of these allegations through investigations, made moves to call the MOH to order without results. They then proceeded to write to the Lagos State Health Board in a bid to put a stop to these acts, which they said contravened the agenda of the Alimosho Local Government Area to provide affordable health care to her residents.
They, however, claimed not to have received a response from the Board which then prompted them to take the drastic step of locking the affected offices.
The report then stated that the action has not stopped the activities of the centre in delivering health services to the residents of Alimosho LGA, while also calling for the immediate suspension of the MOH, an investigation of the allegations levelled against him, and a possible replacement within the investigation period in order to prevent a vacuum in the health sector of the local government.
