LAGOS FLOODS: Alimosho community decries impact of flooding on livelihood

SOME residents of the Abule Egba area in the Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA of Alimosho LGA have shared their flood-related experiences, citing its negative impact on their mental health, properties, and well-being.

A shop owner, Caroline Ibitoye and her daughter, Ayomide, recounted how the flood waters reached their chests, and how they scrambled for something to hold on to in a bid to avoid being swept away by the flood. They also recalled how the flood led to the loss of their wares.

Ayomide, who used to enjoy the rain, stated that she has become traumatised as any sound or feel of rain scares her now and brings back the memory of the incident.

Another resident, Jamiu Lawal, stated that the flood in the area was caused by the water released from the dam in Abeokuta, Ogun State and the unfinished canal in the area. He pleaded with the government to complete the canal to avoid future floods.
