THE Executive Chairman of the Agbado-Oke-Odo LCDA of Alimosho LGA, Hon. David Famuyiwa has felicitated the Muslim residents of the council area as the holy month of Ramadan commences.

In a statement personally signed by the Chairman on Thursday, March 23, 2023, he urged the residents to use the occasion to practice the way of the Holy Prophet, the teachings of the Holy Quran, and obey the primary instructions of Ramadan in order to make Nigeria a safer and better place.

The statement reads in part, "Ramadan teaches us to practice self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, and empathy for those who are less privileged, thus encouraging actions of generosity and compulsory charity (zakat). It also helps instil compassion for the poor.

"May I, therefore, use this great occasion to urge you all to practice the way of the Holy Prophet and the Holy Quran and obey the primary teachings of Ramadan to make Nigeria a safer and better place.

"I sincerely admonish us all to use this gracious period to peacefully co-exist with one another while upholding the Council Area, Lagos State, and Nigeria in your prayers in this Holy Month as we are about to witness a new change of government both at the state level and at the federal level."

The sacred month of Ramadan is known to be a month in which all Muslims perform the obligatory fasting of twenty-nine (29) or thirty (30)days, beginning from the moment the moon of a new month is sighted.
