IN commemoration of the institutionalized Lagos State Tree Planting Day, the Executive Chairman of Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA, Hon. David Famuyiwa, together with the staff and residents of the council area, joined in the Year 2022 Tree Planting Day themed ‘In Harmony with Nature’ on Thursday, July 14, 2022.
In his opening remarks at the event held at the White House bus stop, Command Road, Abule-Egba Lagos, the council boss lauded the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his attitude toward a cleaner and greener environment.
He went further to reiterate the importance of tree planting and preservation to society. He then charged the residents to take ownership of the trees in order to ensure that the essence of the tree planting is not defeated.
The representative of LASPARK, Ms Ganiyat Kikelomo Layeni, on her part, briefly spoke on the need for tree planting while encouraging everyone to embrace environmental serenity.
The HoD Environmental Health Services, Mrs Olubunmi Okeowo and the Supervisor for Environmental Health Services, Prince Buhari Sulaimon both emphasized the need for human participation in tree planting and informed the attendees that trees are being planted across the seven wards.
Dignitaries present at the occasion include the Executive Chairman, Hon. David Famuyiwa, the SLG, Chief Akinwumi James Odeyemi, Supervisor for Environment, Prince Buhari Sulaimon, other Supervisors, Deputy Leader of the 5th Legislative Council, Hon. Olutayo Akinsuyi, other Councillors, LASPARK representative, Ms Ganiyat Kikelomo Layeni, Clergymen, CDC Chairman, Mr Ernest Kasumu, Party Leaders, among others.
