Ex-Super Eagles boss reveals problem he has with Mikel Obi

Siasia was in charge of the Super Eagles team in 2016, in which he had to work with John Mikel Obi, who was the team captain at the time. Apparently, both parties didn’t get along well as the boss saw Obi as a stubborn person.

EX-Super Eagles of Nigeria Manager, Samson Siasia has opened up on why he didn’t have a good relationship with legendary midfield maestro, John Mikel Obi during his time in charge.

Siasia was in charge of the Super Eagles team in 2016, in which he had to work with John Mikel Obi, who was the team captain at the time. Apparently, both parties didn’t get along well as the boss saw Obi as a stubborn person.

“Mikel Obi is a little bit out of my league, stubborn and I cannot tolerate people like that,” Siasia stated in a video on social media. 

“The only good thing he did was that Olympics he came out and played because I had warned him severally, and he played as a captain and that's why we got to where we did," he added.

Currently, Samson Siasia is serving a reduced five-year ban, which was initially a lifetime ban imposed by FIFA over match-fixing allegations. The ban is set to expire in August 2024.
