DETERMINED to create, generate, and sustain employment for the unemployed in the Igando-Ikotun, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Pepsico Foundation, in collaboration with the LCDA, under the leadership of Comr. Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya has trained and empowered about 100 women and youths in the LCDA on solar panels, generator repair, plumbing, electrical works, and other skills to make them self-reliant.
While speaking at the graduation of the trainees at the Igando-Ikotun Secretariat on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, Comrade Akinsanya tasked the participants to take advantage of the skills acquisition, which has become a major focus of the LCDA, to make themselves relevant given the rising cases of unemployment in the society.
“The time has gone for Nigerian youths to rely completely on the Government. We will continue to support all programmes that will empower the youth and women,” Akinsanya assured.
While challenging the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the opportunity given, he also admonished the trainers to continue to impact on the women and the society.
He commended the programme organisers for ensuring that people especially youths and women key into the strategic empowerment need of the community.
He said the State Government was committed to building the capacities of youths and women to generate wealth.
“The focus of Akinsanya's administration is to generate wealth through the empowerment of the youths and women to encourage the use of skills in the creation of more wealth for the society,” Akinsanya stated.
