The Executive Chairman of the Alimosho Local Government Area, Hon. Jelili Sulaimon has organised a peace and security meeting of the LGA for May 2024.
The meeting, which is a convergence of all religious and traditional leaders, as well as security agencies within the Local Government, is usually called to review the security situation in the Local Government in a bid to ensure the protection of lives and properties.
Members in attendance addressed security matters as it affects them and those living around them or within their organisation or community. The matters discussed ranged from smoking and general drug consumption, early morning stealing, foreign okada riders’ problems, and activities of the acclaimed iron pickers, thuggery, kidnapping & general insecurity, bullying in schools, and unsuspecting dispatch riders moving illegal materials and so on.
The meeting, which had the presence of the Obas of Shasha, Egbeda, and Orisumbare Kingdoms, the Division Police Officers within the LGA, the LNSC commander in Alimosho, the Alimosho CSO, the religious leaders, market leaders, the NIS, NSCDC, NOA representatives, the Community representative, the Local Government SLG and Council Manager among others, took recommendations and advise from the security personnel on way forward.
The Police DPOs responded to some of the matters raised especially on drug abusers or hard drug takers, and okada rider excesses despite Lagos State rule on "no Okada riding at some locations" among others. They also mentioned the case of people who are affected by criminals but not willing to go to court.
The council Chairman appreciated all comments and affirmed his readiness to support them adequately with the efforts of relevant security agencies to curb the menace in no time.
