AS the maintenance of the Idimu Road further delays, despite the fact that engineer in charge had promised that it would be reopened for vehicular access today, distressed motorists have narrated the amount of agony they experience daily, especially in the evenings when traffic is very heavy.

In the evenings, all vehicles take one lane, coming from Orisunbare Road, Shasha Junction and Ejigbo Road inwards Idimu on the first lane. On the other lane, vehicles coming from Isheri Olofin, Egbeda Akowonjo and Ikotun Egbe all converge at the Idimu Junction as they try to navigate their next destinations.

When AlimoshoToday visited the scene, Mr Jimoh, a motorist who had given up on the traffic and had pulled over on the congested road, eating roasted corn said: "Imagine, the congestion is too much. I've been inside for 48 minutes now and I don't have enough fuel. I've decided to park until it subsides. If it's 11 pm, I don't mind. I'll be here till it goes down."

A commercial tricyclist, who identified himself as Sodiq Abdullahi, said: "I spend 30 minutes to 45 minutes in this traffic on each trip.

"The hold-up is too much in the night."

Sodiq said he is able to get his daily remittances but his take-home is not as expected.

Another commercial tricyclist, Ifeanyi Ohei, who spoke in an angry tone, said: "It's really frustrating! Do you know how long I've been inside that traffic? I've spent 30 minutes!"

Ifeanyi said he plies Idimu to Ejigbo route and that he had already closed for business that day, as at 7:40 pm, because of the heavy traffic.
